Georgia State Summer Programs 2018

Georgia State University has 2 summer programs open to international students:

Now in its sixth year, the Summer Institute is a four-week program designed specifically for international students. Students live in on-campus housing and attend Georgia State classes. All students take two three-credit courses. Please see the course listing for this summer’s offerings.

Cost

The 2018 program fee is $4,900. (Airfare and visa fees are not included.)

    • Stone Mountain Park
  • GSU PantherCard
    • Access to Recreation Center, Library, and other GSU facilities.

*Students must register for medical insurance on their own. The $80 insurance fee is part of the total program fee, but students will pay $80 directly to the insurance company and the remaining balance to Georgia State University. Information on how to register for insurance will be sent to accepted students.

Application Instructions and Deadlines

Application deadline is May 1. 

  • February 1: Online application opens.
  • March 1: Priority application deadline. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after this date.
  • Within 1 week upon being accepted: Pay the $450 deposit online through Flywire as an International Wire Transfer. Visit gsu.edu/summerinstitute for more details. Note: in order to pay your deposit online, you need your Georgia State student ID number. You will receive this afteryour application has been processed by our Admissions team.
  • May 1: Complete International Student & Scholar Services required documents for your student visa. Visit gsu.edu/summerinstitute for more information.
  • May 1: Submit Certificate of Immunization form to the Office of International Initiatives at ipp@gsu.edu.

iSpeed (International Summer Program to Explore, Experience & Discover)

SPEED participants will attend four interactive cultural lectures led by GSU faculty throughout their two-week stay.

Lecture topics include subject areas such as:

  • Art
  • Music
  • Intercultural communication
  • Contemporary social issues

Housing and Meals

  • Stay in safe and modern on-campus housing at the University Commons. Each four-bedroom apartment includes a private bedroom and shared kitchen, living room, dining room, and bathroom. Amenities include free laundry, Wi-Fi, 24-hour security, study lounge, community lounge with TV, and shuttles to campus and nearby shopping.
  • Enjoy 10 meals at a buffet-style student dining hall while in Atlanta.

Cost

$1950

Includes program fee, housing, meal plan, and cultural excursions, including the Florida trip. Students are responsible for visa fees, insurance, airfare, and personal expenses in Atlanta and Florida.

*Refunds* 

June 1st – applicants who withdraw from the program by this date will receive a full refund minus a $200 nonrefundable fee.

After June 1st – applicants who withdraw during this time will not receive a refund.
