Procedures for International Faculty Who Apply from Outside of Turkey

  1. An informal agreement is reached between you and the department.
  2. The agreement is approved by the Dean and the Rectorate.
  3. The Personnel Office begins internal paperwork regarding your hire.
  4. The Personnel Office requests approval from YÖK, the High Council of Education
  5. YÖK grants its approval and sends the Personnel Office a letter detailing work and residence permit fees.
  6. You will receive a hard copy of the letter from YÖK regarding the fees.
  7. The letter must be taken to a Turkish Consulate in your country as part of your application for a work visa.
  8. Pay the fees at the Consulate.
  9. Send the receipt to the Boğaziçi University Personnel Office.
  10. The Personnel Office sends the receipt to YÖK.
  11. YÖK issues a card that functions as your work and residence permit, and mails it to the Personnel Office at Boğaziçi University.
  12. Enter Turkey on your work visa.
  13. Go to the Personnel Office, sign your contract, and pick up your work and residence card.

Procedures for International Faculty Who Apply from Inside Turkey

  1. An informal agreement is reached between you and the department.
  2. The agreement is approved by the Dean and the Rectorate
  3. The Personnel Office begins internal paperwork regarding your hire.
  4. The Personnel Office requests approval from YÖK, the High Council of Education.
  5. YÖK grants its approval and sends the Personnel Office a letter detailing work and residence permit fees.
  6. Personnel Office will inform you  about the fees.
  7. Pay the fees at any Ziraat Bankası and bring the receipt to the Personnel Office
  8. The Personnel Office sends the receipt to YÖK.
  9. YÖK issues a card that functions as both your work and residence permit. When ready, this card is delivered to the Personnel Office at Boğaziçi University.
  10. The Personnel Office will contact you when it is time to go to their office to the Personnel Office, sign your contract, and pick up your work/residence permit card.
